5/01 | Hurting - Week 2 of Closer | Nathan Carlton | Week 2 of the series, Closer Ruth and NaomiTHE BIG IDEA: When you're hurting, move closer to the right people. As a species, we have never been more lonely and isolated. An example of this is that the most popular class at USC in the past couple of years has been a class on "friendship". This isolation is an epidemic. When we look to the story of the Scriptures, we see that we are wired to live in community with one another, reflecting the image of the Triune God who made us. An example of this is the story of Ruth & Naomi. But most importantly, through this story, we see a prefiguring of the incarnation of Jesus, who reveals definitely that God is with us. | ![]() |
4/24 | Grief. Week 1 of Closer | Chase Florom | Job and his friendsTHE BIG IDEA TODAY: When someone's grieving, just be there. ABOUT THE SERIES: For all the hurt and pain we experience, you'd think we'd be better at dealing with it — but when we're hurting, we can often find ourselves becoming angry, self-absorbed, or isolated. And it's not just our own pain we struggle to deal with. When the people around us are hurting, our own discomfort, fear, or selfishness can prevent us from supporting each other during difficult moments. Since pain is unavoidable, in this 4-part series, we'll consider how we can think differently about how we can respond to pain by exploring the Old Testament stories of Job and his friends, Ruth and Naomi, Elijah and a family in need, and Hannah and Eli. Through their example, we'll see that, when life hurts, we can move closer to each other by just being there, seeking out the right people, responding with love, and sharing our sorrows. | ![]() |

Restored - Easter
April 17, 2022
Happy Easter and welcome to Trinity Church. We are glad you are celebrating the risen Lord! Whether you are worshiping live, or taking time to watch the recording, we trust that God is present and doing a good work. Thank you for tuning in to hear and respond to the hope of Easter and the message, Restored.
Jesus bears our scars on the cross. The resurrection shows us that we are restored through faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Our restoration begins now, and is brought to completion when we are raised from the dead.

1/30 | Made Right: Love | Erik Boye | Life is not fair. We don't like that truth so we fight against it. We reel under the injustice of life. We see others get what we think we deserve. We are diligent and work hard while others get rewarded. Resentment builds in us. Anger has fertile ground in which to grow. The implications of the injustice can create a spiritual swamp and the entaglements of a dying jungle. God's gives us a gift that can drain the swamp and make the jungle of life healthy. The gift is not "out there." It is generated within each of us by God. It is the gift of love. | ![]() |

1/02 | Unexpected Way to Know God | Erik Boye | Modern Christianity often tries to contain Jesus in a box, maintaining the boundaries between our lives and the interference or influence of Jesus. We welcome Him into parts of our lives, but try to contain Him from entering other parts. Despite our efforts, God shows up! Throughout Biblical history, God shows up in unexpected places and unexpected ways. God shows up in our lives to bring us guidance, wisdom, insight. He shows up to reach us, teach us, and equip us. God shows up to make all things new and infuse our lives with a light of hope that cannot be dimmed. Jesus shows up, breaks in, and enters our lives in Unexpected ways. | ![]() |

Reflections and Carols
December 26, 2021
The Bible doesn't tell us much about Jesus' childhood, but three stories from his early days give great insight into who he is and how we came to change the world. In this Sunday's message, our pastors will share reflections on Simeon's Song, the Magi's Visit, and the Escape to Egypt.

Date: | Title: | Speaker: | Description:
11/21 | Four Solas | Nathan Carlton | Part four in the four-part series: Here I Stand. Every story has a begining. "A long time ago in a galaxy far far away..." The universe in which a narrative takes place has an origin story, a clear depiction of an ideal past before things went wrong. Then, inevitably, things go off the rails. The rest of the story tells us how the original intent was re-established, and how what is broken is restored. | ![]() |

Not So Simple
10/10/2021-10/24/2021
Date: | Title: | Speaker: | Description:
10/24 | Fight for Peace | Dave Parrish | Week 3 of our 3-week series, Not so Simple Disorder and evil practices come from envy and selfish ambition. The result is a lack of peace in our lives and in our relationships. When the peace of Christ rules in our hearts, we become people of peace who bring Christ's peace to others. | ![]() |
10/17 | Eternal Things | Erik Boye | Week 2 of our 3-part series, Not so Simple Every gift is from God. As people of faith, we do not put our hope in things of this world, but instead, we invest in eternal things. The things of this earth will only fade, rot, and break. There is no eternal value in investing in fine foods, clothing, and worldly possessions. Your exotic cheeses will go bad. Your clothes will all shrink, tear, or wear out. The fancy car will break down at some point. Those $500 shoes or purse will give out. Nothing lasts forever, and this is the reason that investing in eternal things, storing up our treasures in Heaven, is the best use of our resources. | ![]() |
10/10 | Mouth and Ears | Erik Boye | Week one in this three-part series: No So Simple. We are quick to speak and often we are not kind with our words, yet James encourages Christ followers to be great listeners and to watch be careful with what we say. Today we will be encouraged to listen more, speak less, and to use our mouths as instruments that uplift and encourage. | ![]() |

8/22 | Habbakuk | Matt Pearson | So frequently in life we wonder where God is in particular situations. We see in Habakkuk a cry out to God for him to move and bring justice as corruption, greed, and sin wreak havoc in Judah. We learn from Habakkuk that God doesn't always respond as we would like. | ![]() |
8/15 | Zephaniah | Dave Parrish | God's prophesied destruction of the nations (including Judah and the city of Jerusalem) is aimed toward purifying and restoring his people. God's heart toward them is love; he will delight over them with singing. | ![]() |
8/08 | Micah | Erik Boye | ![]() |
|
8/01 | Nahum | Erik Boye | Week 5 in our summer series, God Speaks. We want to hear God’s voice but we wonder, does God speak to us? Does He speak to me? How do I hear Him? When we wrestle with the reality of life and life’s circumstances, whether a person of faith or one seeking to find God, we want hope and to hear a word from God. God spoke to the minor prophets in times of great upheaval and He still speaks today. Through humility, prayer, repentance, revival, and faith in the midst of the ruins, when we feel the weight of reality, God speaks of the the hope found in Christ. | ![]() |
7/25 | Obadiah | Dave Parrish | The shortest book of the Old Testament packs a big punch, Obadiah shares a word of judgment for all who joined in on the plundering of their distant relatives. Actions have consequences, and God will make all things right at the Day of the Lord. In the end God’s kingdom of peace will come to people of all nations who call on him. | ![]() |
7/18 | Hosea | Matt Pearson | Sometimes God speaks in odd ways. Using Hosea's life as an example, He calls out the idolatry of Israel by asking Hosea to marry a whore, telling him to rescue her and continue to love her despite her evil ways. God shows us how similar His Gospel grace is in this act of oddity. Despite our offenses, idolatry and adultery, He expresses and extends His love, compassion, grace, and faithfulness toward us. God speaks to us in the midst of our lives of relative comfort and ease with a warning that in the midst of prosperity, our human tendency is to turn away, rejecting Him to seek other gods. Hosea will remind us to repent and receive God's deep love for His people. | ![]() |
7/11 | Jonah | Dave Parrish | Week 2. When God told Jonah to preach against wickedness in Nineveh, Jonah defiantly went as far as he could in the opposite direction. Jonah did not share God’s merciful concern for the fate of a sinful city. We all have a Nineveh, a place in life where we are unwilling to follow God in obedience. We all have at least a bit of Jonah in us too. Jonah challenges us to explore what we believe about God’s mercy and how far we’ll go to extend God’s mercy to others. | ![]() |
7/01 | Amos | Erik Boye | In this series, God Speaks, we dive into the books of the minor prophets to discover that God is still working and still speaking. Life is good! But when it is good, sometimes we get complacent and apathetic about how much we need God. Amos calls us back to "Seek God and Live." He is reaching out, speaking to our hearts to bring us the transformative work of Christ that promises true life. | ![]() |

Who's Your One?
05/23/2021-06/27/2021
Date: | Title: | Speaker: | Description:
6/27 | The Impact of One | Dave Parrish | Every follower of Jesus is a link in the chain of faith. Your faith is the result of someone inviting you to 'come and see'...to come meet Jesus. Once you enter into that relationship with Him, He gives you a mission to go and tell another...to tell your ONE about Him. Who will you extend the invitation to? Who will you invite to "come and see" so they can be transformed by Jesus, too. | ![]() |
6/20 | The Hard Truth | Matt Pearson | One of the most challenging aspects of culture today is that we have diminished the concept of sin; we have removed the reality of hell. The Bible makes is clear that hell is real. The consequences of a faithless life are dire. And as disciples of Jesus, we can bring hope. I often hear people say, “I could never love a God who would…” Who would what? Who would disagree with you? And do things that you would never do? Who would allow bad things to happen to people? Who would be more concerned with His own glory than your feelings? Who would—send people to hell? This message will convict, compel and inspire hope in the heart of all who seek to find the God of the Bible and to live in a manner that reaches their ONE. | ![]() |
6/06 | One is Significant | Juli Staab | One makes a difference. One makes a difference often where many cannot. Consider the power of one prayer, one conversation, one invitation....to reach your ONE. As pastor Dave quoted last week, "To the world you might be one person, but to one person you might be the world." We continue diving into the significant role the believer has in the life of another. | ![]() |
5/26 | It is Personal | Dave Parrish | Many focus on the large picture and forget it is made up of many smaller pictures. Many look to the "church" with thoughts and statements of what the "church" needs to do. However, we often times forget that the Church is made up of many parts, individual members. Each of us is required to do our part to reach our one. | ![]() |
5/23 | Being Who We Are | Erik Boye | Consider what comes to mind when you think of a politician, a CrossFit fanatic or a millennial. Odds are you have certain mental associations with each. Now, what comes to mind when you hear the word Christian? This message will help us live into the true meaning of this word so that we are able to make an impact on the world. | ![]() |

We are invited into the rhythm Jesus showed us by giving space to solitude, being filled with God's word, and allowing that to soak over us so we can listen for God's voice. | ![]() |
