Footsteps:  Footsteps is a rotational Sunday School format where the children experience a new hands-on lesson each week. Footsteps is starting out 2012 on a high note with “E2: The Prophets Elijah and Elisha”.  Miracle Cakes are on the menu in the Cooking lesson as the children learn how God provided for Elijah during the drought.  Flames are flying in Craft as students learn about the chariot of fire and heaven while creating their own fiery masterpieces!  Miracles abound in Drama as the showdown with the Baal prophets and the calling of Elisha are acted out.  Game can get pretty rowdy this unit with relay races including “Pass the Mantle”, “Chariot of Fire races” and “Naaman’s Cure” illustrating the faith and trust that Elijah and Elisha had in God.  The complete overview of these prophet’s lives is provided in Music with praises sung for the work God did in their lives.  Elisha is the star of the Video lesson as the children learn about Elisha’s life and take a fun video quiz!  Faith and trust in the Lord is at the heart of each of our lessons this unit.  We would love to have your children attend and join in the fun!  Please know that your children are welcome to join us at Footsteps anytime.  Each lesson stands on its own, so there is no reason to wait!  Based on our experience, your kids won’t want to miss a single lesson!

Confirmation: Students in Grades 5-8 have various areas of study that they are delving into this year.  Luther’s Small Catechism is the focus of our 5th graders so they can learn the how’s, what’s and why’s of our religion.  Lessons for the 6th graders are centered on the Old Testament which is full of thrilling accounts of real people that would rival the best action/adventure movies with kidnapping, murder, war and a little romance thrown in, too! Our 7th and 8th grade students are a combined class for the lesson with breakout sessions for small group discussion.  These students will concentrate on Jesus’ life, ministry, miracles and teachings.

High School: Our Senior High Sunday School group did an awesome presentation of a live nativity for the Footsteps children in December!  Now they are ready to get back into Bible study.  They have several video driven curriculums to choose from including a study on King David by David Nassar.  The video driven Bible studies include a short video clip which encourages discussion on the given topic.   Students are always welcome to join!

Adults: Several options are available Sunday mornings including a discussion of the book Radical by David Platt led by Matt Pearson in the Parsonage.  Radical tackles what it means to be a full-on, committed disciple of Christ.  In addition, Pastor Neil is teaching a class at the Family Life Center which coordinates with the “Hard-Wired” sermon series and focuses on our spiritual gifts.  Parents of all age children are welcome and encouraged to attend either study while your kids are in Sunday School themselves! Nursery is available at the Church Center during the Sunday School time. Please feel free to join in these classes whenever you are available!
